about
London omni-metallers Astrohenge are back, and someone must have
slipped something into their coffee...
Based around a concept of going on holiday to a strange planet of
women, the 2nd Astrohenge album takes their trademark sound and
applies an amphetamine enema to it. 10 songs of utter chaos, dealing
in gargantuan riffage, breakneck drumming, bonkers keyboard playing,
and the spectrum of heavy sounds from sludge, to thrash, to death
metal, to prog, to god knows what. Possibly their 'Reign In Blood'
due to the velocity and brevity that they tear through the material,
this album is a punch in the face to anyone expecting a predictable
listen.
The band have a fierce live reputation and have supported Between The
Buried and Me, Cannabis Corpse, Taint, Ramesses, Cough, Burnt By The
Sun, Monotonix.
Fans of Melvins, Baroness, Deep Purple, Keelhaul, Fantômas, Hawkwind,
The Fucking Champs, and High on Fire will all find something to
headbang to...
"What listening to metal on a fairground ride in outer space must feel like" METAL HAMMER
"Give credence to the Faith No More rule (if a band's members barely
look like they belong on the same planet, they're probably awesome)" TERRORIZER
"A supremely satisfying journey into groovy oblivion" ROCK SOUND
"Astrohenge seem more vital, more necessary a band to have in your
music collection than I feel I’m capable to explaining with words
alone." THRASH HITS"
