about
Limited vinyl re-release with exclusive James Plotkin remix
After forming in 1999, Yakuza swiftly gained crossover success live, playing alongside Opeth, ISIS, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Mastodon as well as Sonic Youth, Melt Banana, and jazz master Ken Vandermark.
Recording with Matt Bayles (Isis, Botch, Pearl Jam) at Volume Studios in Chicago, Yakuza enlisted a wide variety of musical guests on Samsara, including pianist Jim Baker, cellist Fred Lonberg-Holm (Flying Luttenbachers), Sanford Parker (Minsk), and Mastodon’s Troy Sanders, further building on the sound the band has already established with its experimental mix of algorithmic jazz and classic riffing.
This limited edition of 500 gatefold LPs also features an exclusive remix of ‘Back to the Mountain’ by James Plotkin (Khanate, O.L.D, Atomsmasher/ Phantomsmasher, Scorn, Sunn O))), KK Null, Earth) and comes on a luxurious double 180g colored vinyl.
